I occasionally play keys for musicals. My MacPro 13” 16Gb 1 TB M1 works well especially with 2TB SSD. But I’m know running thirsty 3rd party plugins needing 32Gb to potentially 64Gb so I need to upgrade. Options include bigger MacPro or add studio instead. Any thoughts?

Do you use PCIe SSDs or BlackMagic cards? If you do, then the Mac Pro is for you. If not, then the Mac Studio is. Even then...is PCIe really worth the extra $3000 Apple wants for it when there's virtually nothing you can do with that PCIe?

Not to mention the Mac Pro doesn't have an SDXC slot while the Studio does.

Hi

Thanks for your responses. I owe you an apology: I said MacPro but should have said MacBook Pro. Grovelling apologies. So I mean MacBook Pro with M2 perhaps 14” with 32Gb or 64Gb. Your new comments welcome. Andrew.

Are you working in a studio or at live events?

If the former, I think the Mac Studio might be the better option since it has more built-in connectivity. If the latter, then a 16" M2 Max MacBook Pro is probably the better option since it has a built-in screen.
