This has not been our experience. Quite the opposite is true for us.

We have approximately 20,000 iOS devices and 6,000 Android devices under support at the present time.

I've never had an app crash on my iPhone.

i've had it happen but usually there were bug fixes released shortly there-after. and safari occasionally crashes for my on my iPad for whatever reason.

the article: this seems to be coming from a rather biased source so i'm going to take anything they say with a huge grain of salt.

Having used both my experience is the reverse of these findings.

I was never able to use my EVO as trouble free as my iPhone. I'm definitely not a fanboy but this just doesn't sound right.

New feature out today. Google's android software has a new version coming out called "Bloody Mary." It gives every android handset the capability of shooting 4K video.

See.... I can make stuff up too.

To fully activate this feature, you are to say "Bloody Mary" three times.

Safari tends to crash on me as well. From what I understand it's a relatively common issue on the first gen iPad, resulting from its limited memory.

But yeah, outside of that I haven't seen a lot of crashes.

Yea...that link: 100% false.

We have tons of iOS, Android, and Win Phones at work and Android has the highest crash rates of any of them. (We also have Blackberries, but those are getting phased out thankfully!)

I had more app crashes with iOS 5 then any previous iOS. I started with version 3. Devices with 256 MB suffer the most. At least Android devices crash just as bad or worse so I don't feel to bad owing a iDevice.

Or, most likely, you have no clue what crash means.

Fixed that for ya! ;)

Very smart. Except that you missed the point that the story originated not from droid-life but from " study preformed by mobile app monitoring company Crittercism".

I do not think that anybody should be surprised. There is a reason why people prefer Android by a big margin.

How did you collect the stats? BTW, were those crashing apps developed by your company?

One plausible explanation for Android advantage might be the fact that Android phones usually have 2x amount of RAM compared to iPhones (but, of course, specs don't matter because on iPhones even crashes are very smooth - overall experience is just great)

How did Crittercism collect their stats?

So, you don't have any stats. Crittercism is a start up that develops (and sells) SDK for crash reporting. That's how they got their data. You can buy their solution and see if your own observations were factually correct.

I'll have to check exactly when I go back to work. I'm not on the mobile development team but I know they get crash reports from the phones which are any crash, not just in house apps as there are only a few and not everyone has them.

I do know that Android also generates the highest amount of trouble tickets too and many times those are listed as being crashes so they are user submitted as well as automatically collected.
