Wishing for a magic bus.
Okay, recently got a .sit file on my sister macbook, downloaded Stuffit Expander, and it worked fine, that was a week ago.

Today, more .sit files, and Stuffit expander won't open at all. The icon struggles to show in the dock, and the icons already there move as if to make room for it, but it dissapears just as quickly. Ideas?

EDIT: I know for a fact it keeps crashing upon execution, no idea why it would work one day and not the other. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it, but no dice.

The usual troubleshooting rules apply. Download the .sit files using a different user account. See if the problem persists. Try them on a different computer. If you have problems on a different computer, then the files are corrupt. It happens.

Is the machine unable to access the internet when StuffIt Expander crashes? I had a similar problem awhile back on my G4 Mini, and it turned out the problem was Expander checking for updates on launch, but my network did not have an internet connection. Check the preferences for an auto-update checkbox and disable it. You may need to temporarily disable any networking (unplug ethernet, or turn off Airport) or give it some sort of internet access to get the program to successfully start so you can access the preferences.
