Hey all,

Just downloaded a game demo as a stuffit archive, but when I expand all I get is an empty folder. Any ideas?

This is a known bug that happens sometimes in 10.4, there is a quick fix though. Open up your Stuffit app, and goto it's Preferences. Under the 'Destination' tab, change 'Create surrounding folder:' to 'Always'. Now try opening your game demo archive again. Hopefully it should work now.

Thanks a lot for this tip. I was wondering why When I unzipped sit files from interfacelift.com on my iBook they would show up as empty folders.

There is (was - not sure if fixed now) a bug with Mac OS X as well. If the destination for the unstuffed archive has 'show folder info' enabled, then this can also create an empty folder.

A practical example of this is if you are creating the unstuffed folder on (in) the desktop and you have the volume information showing, such as in the attached thumbnail - which is when I encountered the problem. I found the workaround on the Allume website, which insisted it had posted bug reports with Apple at intervals for over a year, without any fix.
