My iphone has nagged me over five times today to do an update. Not really interested in doing an update right now and don't want to be bothered about it, just want the nagging messages to stop.

And to anybody who wants to tell me it is in my best interest to do the update as bad things may happen or maybe I should get rid of my iPhone because I really need to get with the apple program or any other like minded responses, please don't respond.

Thanks for allowing me a moment to vent. I am over it now.

You can go in and delete the update that it downloaded. It won't ever remind you again (until another update) becomes available.

This isn't to say this isn't stupid and annoying particularly because you don't have a choice in the matter of allowing pets missions to the download. BUT... the option is there for you. And now you know.

Please do the update as bad things may happen or maybe you should get rid of your iPhone because you really need to get with the apple program.

I can't tell if you're serious. I'm chalking this one up to Mr. Poe.

Thanks to the info in this thread, I successfully deleted the downloaded update. No more reminders to update, and no more red "1" on my Settings icon :)

Just deleting doesn't work any more. It'll be back.

I've kept one of my iPads on iOS 7.1.2, and it's handled far better there; a single alert with each new update, then just sits as a number on the settings app.
I'm never updating that. Not for love or money.

Seems like there are ways to avoid it from coming back too, for those that are experiencing it, as mentioned in that linked thread.
