Stupid Question...why is the 20" ACD not HD?..I mean....

...how do you tell?

I've only just begun looking into high def and, well, I understand that HD usually refers to a video format consisting of either 720 lines of progressive video or 1080 lines of either progressive or interlaced video...

but how do you tell this? I mean the 23 and 30" models say HD...but it only gives resolution...

..I know there's a really easy answer to this (probably) but right now i'm lost.

any smart HD savvy people want to tell me?

I'm confused. what does this tell me? I already know that the 23" and 30"s are HD.
I was looking for an explanation as to how they qualify as HD but the 20" doesn't

I'm guessing the answer involves some kind of math, which was never my strong point.

I think it's because the 20" only has 1050 lines of vertical resolution...whereas the others both have more that 1080. Not too far from HD as far as I'm concerned, but still not technically HD.

This makes sense to me, but...wouldn't it technically be classed as HD as it meets the 720 lines requirement?
I think the reason for the confusion is that someone mentioned to me, in the threads that the iMac I use (17" - 1440x900) is technically HD....
but then, I'm unsure how this whole..interlaced/progressive comes into it..

*sigh*
I blame part of the confusion on it being 2am.
