~NAND flash to replace the hard drive
~10 inch screen
~no optical drive (but maybe offer an external optical drive like the powerbook 2400)
~maybe no trackpad (replace with the track ball, but maybe improved)
~ o and less than 4 pounds

I don't know... it sounds like you want something between an ultraportable and a 12" MBP. I would honestly perfer a 12"MBP, that would be small enough.

i guess it would be for me too but i would like it to be really light and the MBP is less than an inch thick but if they got rid of the optical drive and the HD and replaced the HD with flash memory it would be so much lighter!

I doubt they'll ever be able to make one that cheap;)

No they could do it. looking at the MacBook it is 5.2 pounds just by taking out the HD and the optical drive they could lose about 1.5 pounds and by putting in the flash they can make have a longer battery life and its solid state

With a 10" screen, you'd better get a 12" Powerbook G4 since they're both too big to be called sub-notebook.
