Not sure where or how to ask this, thought maybe some of you tech gurus could point me in the right direction...

I have DSL at home with what was SWBELL - now AT&T - I've had it for years and years. My e-mail ends with swbell.net. The incoming mail on the iPhone works great - the outgoing mail server on my account is mail.swbell.net - problem is, unless I'm on my home wireless network - it won't send.

The e-mail server rejects anything that doesn't come from my home - so nothing when I'm on EDGE or on another wifi network. I'm sure it's to prevent spam from running through their system - it only recognizes certain ip addresses.

I've tried password, secure, SSL, every option - it's just not set up to work.

My question is - is there another way or outgoing mailbox I can hit or run through that will still have it appear as though the message came from xxx@swbell.net ? I'd still like to use my main mail account that I've used for years. I know I can get the mail from it, how can I get it sent so folks can reply to it.

I can use gmail or my .mac account, but I'd really like to use my home account, any ideas???

Not really.

What you might want to do is is call your ISP and ask them if they can enable SMTP Auth. It wouldnt surprise me if they start to get a lot of calls because of the iPhone and people's ability to send emails from outside the network.
