Until a few days ago I would still be at 75-80% at the end of a day of light usage with my iPhone 6.

Now, I'm down to <50% by 2-3pm. Most location services are off or set to "while using app". Background refresh is off completely.

As far as I can remember, I haven't changed any settings. Nor have I updated the iOS (I'm running 8.3).

Any ideas?

Are you using the phone more often in an area that has a weak signal? This could cause battery drain.

Hmmm, good question. I am in Canada. I live in the SF Bay Area, and activated a Canada calling plan before I left. Signal has been okay, but I wonder if that has something to do with it.

That said, I'm almost certain that it started before I came up here.

As adamhenry mentioned, open the Settings app and go to General > Usage > Battery Usage and see what information you can find there.

Interesting. Here's how it parses out:
  1. Home & Lock Screen 15%
  2. Chrome 14%
  3. NY Times 14% (reading Sunday paper!)
  4. RingCentral (Low Signal) 13%
  5. Photos (Background Activity)
  6. Mailbox 11%
  7. Echofon 8%

Then there are a bunch of others with less usage.

Why does Home & Lock consume so much battery?

Also, I haven't used RingCentral once in the past 24 hours. Wonder why it uses any battery at all when I'm not even using it?

With Photos, I imagine it is uploading them to iCloud Drive? Guessing that's what Background Activity means?
