Hi,

I've recently been having sudden frame rate drops while playing games on my 2009 13" MacBook Pro (2.26GHz, 2GB RAM, 9400M). After a few minutes of gaming at a steady rate, my performance will drop significantly from upwards of 40-60FPS to 5-10FPS. This happens across multiple games (e.g., Battlefield 2, Counter-Strike: Source), and even with fresh installations of both Windows 7 and Windows XP.

My frame rate drops regardless of what video settings I use. In Counter-Strike: Source, it's happened with all my graphics preferences set to their lowest values, including a resolution set well below 1280x800. Could I still be maxing out my shared VRAM (256MB)? I've been playing these games for over a year on this computer, but have only recently had this problem.

Thanks.

make sure your cooling is good.. it can be downclocking itself because of getting too hot.

Try Lubbos Fan Control in Windows and SMCfanControl in OSX... it'll give temp readings and let you change the fan speeds.
