I've been using the same basic login since the .mac days. Just after the MobileMe to iCloud migration, (where IDs began requiring email addresses) various services were rejecting my password - even after resetting it multiple times. I ultimately contacted Apple Support who (seemingly after much trouble) was able to reset my password for once and all.

Recently, I'm starting to see where various services on certain devices are requiring different login credentials... some want "username@email.com" and some simply want "username" -- suddenly - it seems like my account has been split into two or three accounts and certain content is only available to a device at a time.

For instance;

only a few of my apps are appearing in the "Purchased" section of the iPhone AppStore.

I'm re-charged for apps and songs I've previously purchased.

Certain Apps aren't transferred to iTunes and are deleted from devices during sync.

Old episodes of TV shows are suddenly only accessible by my Apple TV when I sign in using the truncated version of my login.

I've contacted Apple Support again and am waiting to hear a response. Anyone Else have any experience with these problems?

It sound like somewhere along the line you created a new apple id and didn't notice.

I got through to Apple Support, sounds like you're right. The 'username' only login had about 90 purchases (mostly podcasts and free content) from a few years ago and only 6 songs and apps from recently.

I must've accidentally created a new account during the switch to MobileMe.

I'm thinking that when I was having password problems I signed in to iTunes with the "old" account (because the full "username@email" wouldn't let me) on one of my devices and didn't know to change it.

They've refunded the recent purchases on the "rouge" account so i can download them again on the "right" account. I love the apple ecosystem -- there's only one place to turn to when you have a problem!

Wow, that's good that they were able to help you. Luckily you didn't have much on the second acount. I'm glad I also only have one account!, saves big headaches! I hope Apple figures out a way to merge accounts for the many others with this problem.
