suddenly .ref files appeared

In my documents folder some .ref files have appeared.

Any idea what they are and can I safely trash them?

Did you just add an app (or something) named "Pheonix" to your Mac?

Pheonix.dpf is a file I exported from pages so my friend can view it on his windows machine.

No new apps for last 6-8 weeks have been installed.
I deleted the files and touch wood no ill effects (yet)
