I'm looking for a new printer. I want a non HP photo / inkjet printer. I already have a Kodak dye sub photo printer for 4x6 prints. I'm looking for something to do 8x10 prints (could be bigger) and to do every day black and white / color.

I'm DONE with HP. I've been suffering for a year with the dreaded stopped printer job problem. I've traced it down to the HP. If I disconnect the HP 6110 all in one, the problem stops for the Kodak printer. The HP had the problem before I got the Kodak.

So... anyhow. I'm interested in a tuff everyday printer. We usually will print maps and word documents with it... However, I'm very picky about my photos. I like to print 8x10 pictures and frame them myself. I've had Canon in the past and wasn't impressed with the photo quality, but I'm sure they have improved.

Help! :(

I don't know about other brands, but I do have a Canon. I use the i960 inkjet for printing 4x6 pictures and I am satisfied with the results. I don't use it for anything else -- actually I don't use it much at all. It can be used as regular printer and it can print larger photos too.

I find that I get better results when I use Canon inks and paper. I suspect that whatever brand you go with, you will get the best results using their consumables.

I use Snapfish when I have lots of pictures that I want to print. The results are great and the price is good. Plus, I don't have to worry about running out of ink.

I'm kicking around the idea of getting the Canon MP500 printer/scanner/copier. Looks like a great printer. I didn't even realize it had the scanner functionality until I saw a pic with it's lid up!

I ended up buying the Canon iP4200. It has the same print setup as the MP500, but without the scanner/copier. I printer a few photos from it... AMAZING and waterproof. It has a pigment black for documents. It prints amazingly fast. I love this printer. Plus! No stopped jobs with either the Kodak or the Canon. I'm officially converted from HP to Canon. I had written Canon off years ago due to poor print quality versus the HP.

I've never used a Canon, but would advise you to stay away from Epson. The ink dries out and clogs insanely quick.
