If your having issues with battery life and other issues with 3.1 on 3gs do this.

- restore the phone once more. You should always restore a phone TWICE when installing a new OS. Why? Don't really know but always works out great for every phone I have owned. This method is very popular for htc phones which has worked very very well on those phones. But like I said I do this all the time and things run just GREAT!

Try it, if the phone is still acting up and still has bad battery life, do it one last time!
Really, this works, just PLEASE do NOT use a backup, set it up as a NEW phone. Does make a difference, I have been very happy with my 3gs!

I've noticed it has been a little better this morning already. I restored when it first came out and then again this past weekend. Last night I gave it a full charge, had it plugged in the wall while I was sleeping and it seems a lot better.

Now what you need to do is this:

- charge it till the phone reaches 100%, make sure you activate the battery meter in settings so you can see the phone charging in numbers.

- unplug at 100%, use the phone till you it 95% and plug it up AGAIN till 100%.

- unplug at 100%, use it this time to you reach 90% and plug again till you reach 100%. Now just use the phone as normal....

NOTE: Do NOT use the phone while charging, turn it off. Airplane mode if you want to do these steps faster as the phone will charge faster.

Do this at least every other day with a new phone. After doing these steps for 2 weeks your good to good and you should see better battery life!

Btw, if you upgrade to another 3. whatever you will have to do this again but only for a week. That is once every other day for a week.

and not necc. I have great battery life (3gs) and all I did was charge overnight - run down the battery until it shut off and then charged it up again (and did a reboot of the phone to calibrate the battery). With decent usage (everyone's is different) I get a good 6-7 hours of use (push on, over 100 emails in a day incoming - a few outgoing, listen to music, play with some apps, web surfing, etc)

Screen brightness - 30-40 percent
Wifi On
3G on
Bluetooth off

That's exactly how you DON'T calibrate the battery... You're supposed to charge it until it's at 100 then use it until it turns off (ie all the way down) then charge it back to 100. Should be doing this, a full cycle, about once a month.
