Hi everyone. This is my first thread. I have a iphone without a contract and obviously no internet aside from wifi. I was wondering if there are any ways to make calls using voip. Most need to have a working phone component first. Is there any good way to do this? Thanks for the tips.

Gophone chips from AT&T work in the iPhone.

I use skype over 3g all the time and it's superb. You need a data plan. AT&T doesn't have data only plan and not sure of t-mobile.

Also I believe that no contract rates are 60.00 for unlimited talk and text. But if you want to add data on a no contract it's not unlimited data like contract rates.

I checked on this some time ago and if my memory is good the rate to add data on a no contract phone is 19.99 with 1000kb? Over 1000 is .01/kb?

I just got a new sim card for my Italian Iphone and ATT said that it is post paid with unlimited talk, text and data for $90 plus tax but no contract since I provided my own equipment.

I had a go phone sim previously but that would not work for data on the iphone.

I believe Skype will work on wifi. But of course to make a call without wifi you would need a data plan.

I don't have any service and all of the voip apps need service apparently. Is the only way to use the phone to buy a gophone thing from AT&T?

I heard that you can get a go phone and use the go phone sim in an iPhone.

If that's true the go phone doesn't offer unlimited text.
