New tips are only $4, I would just use them however you want and a year later instead of buying a cup of coffee that day, get new tips.

I have always used a clorox wipe to wipe Air Pods 1 (I've had since within 5 months of original launch date). I plan on using a clorx wipe to wipe Air Pods Pro. I go to the gym every day, so I use the wipe every day, soaking wet. Never an issue with cleanliness.

60% rubbing alcohol for the tips (and buy a new pair every now and then).

for the mesh I use blue tac with a mild pressure. Not bad.

With the old AirPods i’ve used, for a complete cleaning of the mesh: teeth brush with thin bristles plus rubbing alcohol, for several times. Not sure it I would do the same with APP

What i do is take off the tips and let then soak in hydrogen peroxide to dissolve the ear wax then wash it off with water. From doing this multiple times dose not harm the tips and make then look brand new.
