I didn't want to start a new thread to say this so...
Do you think that, after all is said and done, people simple want a laptop that optimizes performance and power consumption. Forget Blu-ray vs HDVD, wireless charging, 802.11n WIFI, Mac OS Leopard. These are all important, but secondary compared to a quality laptop.
If that's true, this leads me to think that MBs and MBPs will be advanced in these three areas:
1. CCFDs to LEDs
2. HDD to NAND FLASH
3. Advanced Intel chips for the future (Penryn, Nehalem, Gesher, and so on)
Advances in these three areas will make MBs and MBPs faster, less prone to breaking (fewer moving parts with flash compared to HDD), thinner (LEDs and Flash drives doesn't use as many parts), and of course cooler.
Everything else is secondary...
I know that once these are implemented there'll probably be something better rumored to come out, but right now, I'm wondering if you guys think the 3 will be implemented by 2008? Obviously, newer Intel chips will come out every year, but what about LEDs and NAND Flash? Opinions?
Maybe my dream of a macbook/macbook pro being an actual "lap" top will become a reality
