Hi all:

I've got an older Mac Mini. I bought it in January 2008 and it has these specs:2.0 Intel Core 2 Duo/1 GB DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300)/120 GB

About two months after buying it the superdrive crapped out. No worries, I just picked up an external DVD drive and have been using that ever since (yes, I know it was under warranty, but I am about 120 miles from the nearest apple store and they never were able to work on it for me when I was in the area).

Anyways, it is way past time to upgrade this puppy. The only problem I have is, well, I don't know really anything about upgrading the mini. I'm not quite sure what would be the best upgrades for my useage. Perhaps you can help me understand my options?

This is my main computer. It gets used for pretty much everything. My biggest uses are for multimedia. I do a lot of digital photography (Lightroom, Cannon DPP, Photoshop CS), Design (photoshop CS, etc...), some movie editing and importing media from camera (really simple stuff with iMovie), audio recording (Garageband, but looking at a move to Pro Tools). I also do a lot of video stuff where I convert and backup DVD's (MTR, handbrake) to an external hard drive. Everthing else is pretty standard I guess... itunes, office, web browsing.

This thing is bone stock. Where should I invest my cash into this little box? I love copious ammounts of storage, so I have roughly two TB of external hard drive space kicking it around my apartment, but would like to see an increase in storage space in my actual mini.

So what would you recommend? Thanks!
