Just looking for opinions on Twitter Clients for the ipod touch. Right now I am using the free version of Twitterific and tried out echofon. I like Twitterific but I would like to have push on it. Which clients have push and what are some of the most popular? Just for some more info I use Tweetie on my Mac and UberTwitter on my BlackBerry. Thanks for the help, and feel free to suggest any apps you like as well as I just got my Touch and am doing some major downloading!

I'd recommend Echofon Pro. 3.0 just came out & it's great. It has Push Notifications for @mentions & DMs. Don't bother with Tweetie. It's good on the mac, but on iPhone it's just eye candy. Not a very useful Twitter app.

I would would have to say Echofon Pro too. After the update Echofon Pro will be the only Twitter app I use from now on. I think it's the best Twitter app as of right now. ;) TwitBird Premium would be second.

Another Echofon vote. I use the free version and it's pretty decent. I tried TweetDeck too, but it hasn't been updated in many months so I'm not sure I'd put much faith in that. It worked pretty decently when I used it a number of months ago.

I currently use SimplyTweet, and of all the Twitter apps I have used, this is by far my favorite. It has push notifications for @mentions. It has the RT feature as well (along with attaching photos). I also like that you have a few different themes to choose from, too. I used Tweetie and I really liked that. I also have TweetDeck on my phone, but I generally just use that to check recent tweets and FB status updates. I have thought about purchasing Twitterrific Premium for $5, but I really don't have a reason to since I use SimplyTweet.

My vote goes to Twitbird. Great app. Highlights unread tweets, had old style RT's, list integration, themes, wallpaper, inline picture viewing. The interface is really nice, clean.

Twittelator is feature packed but I never liked how it looked. The layout feels cluttered to me.

I do also like SimplyTweet but the current version is a little dated now. Very excited to see the next update from the Dev. He's rebuilding the app completely.

I tried out the free version of Echofon after some recommendations and it seems to be pretty good. Will play with it more and see how I like it.

Tweetie lost me after the last update. Terrible.

You can basically use any twitter app you want with push if you just get boxcar.

It's really fast and will open a bunch of twitter apps automatically. The first service you sign up for is free too!

I like twitbird, but i also like tweedie2 and echofon pro. twitteriffic is nice but its lack of landscape kills me. None of these are perfect. I'm not a fan of the new echofon update.

You can get any of the free versions and get boxcar.

Tweetie 2. The pull-to-refresh idea was a revolutionary idea for iPhone apps. I'll be shocked if more people don't start using it soon.

Everything else about the program is also like that...extremely well thought out and clean. One of the best iPhone apps there is.

Also, like Kicko said, download Boxcar if you want to push tweets.

Why would you think that a free client could be better than a paid one?

He stated a fact: This paid client is better than the free ones.

How that led you to your question, I'm not sure. He never said he thought they could be better or should be better or anything about them being better. He said they were worse. End of story.

I ask because he's making a comparison and comparing free vs. paid isn't really a fair one. Most paid apps are better than free ones, no? So it really doesn't add anything helpful to the op's question.

Twittelator is waaay better than the free apps.

Twidbird Pre & Pro are waaay better then the free ones.

Echofon Pro is waaay better then the free ones.

Just to make sure I got this right. The paid ones are better than the free ones? Lol :) just messing wit ya. Thanks for the help! I wish echofon had a twitterific's-like theme. I like the dark theme

On the app store? Not really.

There are a ton of $0.99 apps that should be free and also a bunch of really great free apps that manage to get by with advertising.

I'm speaking in general here, not just twitter apps.

Just found TwitterStars

I just found a cool Twitter app called TwitterStars. You may want to check it out.

lol. I was just trying to make a point.

I could never get into Twitterific for some reason. It's a good app, just wasn't for me.

Have just started playing w/ Echofon and it's better than I expected. Pretty good for a free app. lol. Seriously though, sync with the desktop app is nice, Flickr integration, choice of native and old RT...all good things Tweetie doesn't have.

What about an app that pushes when someone u are following tweets? Doesn't have to be to me but just a regular tweet?
