I just ordered the 15" MBP. I need some suggestions for a nice sleeve, bag, or backpack. Those of a higher quality is what I would be interested in. Not really wanting a "briefcase" style case.

If you can provide name, style, and maybe a link to the website it would be greatly appreciated.

Fat Cat backpack here

Buy a Waterfield Designs sleeve and then use any backpack/messenger bag you like (to get whatever look you want). WD makes great sleeves and they have excellent service, I'd definitely buy from them again.

The Timbuk2 Laptop Messenger Bag is great!

I have a Marware Macbook Pro sleeve and it's excellent. So far I've used it for my 12" PB g4 while waiting for my MBP to arrive. I put it in the sleeve and carry my laptop around with me to class every day along with notebooks and text books and it's in perfect condition.

Crumpler makes some great cases. Also, I know a couple of people who are happy with their Timbuk2 cases as well. I currently use my Targus (left-over from my Dell laptop), but I'm going to get a Timbuk2 very shortly.

I definitely second this recommendation. Their service is amazing. And their products are top rate.

Brenthaven Metro Deluxe?

I have a 2.33 GHz 15.4" MBP coming Thursday, and I've been searching the internet for the perfect bag (for me!). I don't want a backpack type, nor a huge bag too unwieldy to travel on planes.

The Brenthaven Metro Deluxe looks good, but I haven't been able to find one to examine in stores. It appears to have a well-padded compartment for the lappie, a separate folder/book section, and a front-zippered compartment for power cords and other peripherals, while not being too large, and it's reasonably priced at $100. Anyone have experience with this, either bought it, or examined it?

TIA :D

I ordered the STM alley from the Apple store along with my MBP. My previous laptop bag was a booq 12" PowerSleeve, but the new booqs are too expensive for generic-sized bags.

These sleeves look awesome holdencaulfield!
I personally have an incase sleeve for my Macbook 13'3 and a Tucano Cobra Horizontal Limit bag (which I bought in Greece so I can't provide you with a link) which I'm really pleased with since it doesn't look dorky and it's has a great deal of space.

Yeah, I've got one of those Timbuk2 Bags - works like a charm for most uses! (to and from classes)

Then for traveling, I use this:

http://www.ebags.com/ogio/metro/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=69616

It's a really slick backpack, and no one's the wiser that it holds a laptop.

That OGIO bag seems really cool - but I worry about the laptop being RIGHT next to your back. With the curve of our spines, when we hunch over to ride a bike or bend over, wouldn't that put some pressure on the middle of the compuer, pushing the keyboard into the screen?

that's my fear with my current bag, and I was considering just getting a Brain Cell to keep in my bag so I can protect it against that, since the brain cell is rigid.

i just bought my first macbook and laptop yesterday along w/ a notebook sleeve and to break with tradition, a sling bag instead of the briefcase or messenger bag look.

my sleeve:

the slingbag:

there are cheaper options that this jansport bag shown. my 13 fits just fine w/the sleeve w/plenty of room to spare for accessories, a spiral notebook for school, etc. its just up to each person. fyi i got black for both.

The best combination is a Tom Bihn sleeve (either the Brain Cell, the Archetype, or even the Soft Cell) and a 253 Courier messenger bag from Bailey Works.

The medium size Bailey Works is perfect for a MBP inside a sleeve and anything else you might need to bring along like books or a camera or notebooks et cetera.

Just to add some more, the Bailey Works bags are built to last and are tough and waterproof and will last for a very long time. The price may be a bit higher than most, but it's absolutely worth the cost.

Also, both of these products are stitched by workers here in the U.S. and are backed by small-business friendliness. (Seriously, both Tom Bihn and John Bailey are wonderful.) This is the absolute best combination.

Brenthaven Metro Deluxe

For my MBP, I'm very pleased with the following combination, that I've been using this week, traveling between work and home:

The Brenthaven Metro Deluxe is well made, fairly compact, yet gives excellent protection, has separate compartments for lappie, folders/books/accessories, for $100.

I've always used the RadTech Notebook ScreenSavrz with my lappies, a very thin microfiber screen protector, which can be wetted to use as a screen/case cleaner and is washable. (My 4 year-old Titanium Powerbook's screen has nary a scratch or mark because of this!)

Lastly, I use a RadTech Sleevz as a thin, microfiber, fitted sleeve, which protects the finish of my MBP from scratches, and fits nicely inside the compartment of the Brenthaven.

For me, this is the perfect combo, all for about $140! :D

Great to hear about Biley works (have been a long time Tom Binh fan). It's hard to find a messenger bag with a 1200-1400 cu in capacity. It's usually thinner or much wider.

sleeve and backpack..

I can heartily recommend the Tucano microfiber second skin, very soft to the macbook, very tough to the outside world, I think it will last because it's nicely made. I tucks in the centre portion of a brenthaven backpack, with padlock as it's going travelling to India for a number of months..
best

I have a brand new Timbuk messenger bag for my 15" PB. I thought I would be able to use it for my 15" MBP. But, I just found out it won't fit with my MBP as it is a little wider than PB.
