The 15" MBP would offer plenty of power for most common graphic design tasks, including Illustrator, InDesign and all but the largest Photoshop projects. Animating might be a different beast, depending on the software, you might want to combine the MBP with an external GPU. However, without knowing your exact use case ("animation" doesn't tell us a whole lot ...) it's impossible to say what's the best setup for you.
