Sugru to fix thunderbolt adapter on Apple display?

I have a 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt Display and the thunderbolt cord--not the power/magsafe cord--is starting to fray. I've seen a lot of posts the recommend sugru to mold to power cords to fix this, but not for the thunderbolt adapter. Could I use sugru to fix the monitor adapter too? It's fraying on the end that plugs into my macbook. Thanks!
