We probably would have heard some rumors by now, but i wonder if we'll see a teaser/ ad for the apple watch at the Super Bowl?

Seems like a good time to start ramping up the hype.

There's obviously the famous 1984 Mac ad, as well as the very first iPhone ad, months before it debuted:

I doubt we'll see a super bowl ad. Why spend millions on one ad, when there's already a high amount of excitement and interest. Just my $.02

111 million viewers, most of which probably are not "techy" or hip to macrumors, gizmodo, etc. This will bring attention to a humongous audience and no doubt Apple wants this purchased as a mass market product.

I think it would be genius to generate buzz. Pre-order in a week perhaps.

No. Apple will not spend $4 million on a 30 second spot. It's not worth it.

Apple will have it's own special event a week before the Apple Watch is released. Apple will get FREE press. And Apple will sell out anyways.

You only need to advertise if you either can't sell your product, or want to sell more. Neither is Apple right now.

I doubt Apple will run a Super Bowl ad. But I'll bet banks will be running Pay ads. I'm kind of surprised that isn't making more news. And people wonder why Google Wallet never took off...

Apple paid for an ad during the 2007 Oscars ceremony 3-4 before the iPhone launched,

Apple also had a deal with ABC/Modern Family to have the iPad featured on the show prior to the official launch in 2010.

Or to build up hype (even more hype in this case) before a product is launched.

You realise $4 million is nothing to Apple, right?

Really? Then why do I see 50 (or more) Coca-Cola, Pepsi, McDonalds, etc, etc. ads a week? And sure, Apple isn't interested in selling more of anything.

Need to forget this. I believe all Super Bowl sponsors are know. Also Apple has only ever had 2 Super Bowl commercials in their history. (The) One in 1984 and the last one in 1999.

It's not happening.

It's strange finding a lot of naysayers here. I think the super bowl ad for the watch is a great marketing.

Did we know Apple was going to air a commercial for Superbowl before airing?

I'm not a naysayer but a fact sayer. Apple just doesn't do Super Bowl ads (other that the 2) and they did not buy add time this year. Here is a list of all 2015 Super Bowl advertisers and Apple is NOT one. You may think it's a great idea and me too but what else is there to say?
