Super cheap tablet.

Will be interesting to see how this thing performs with things like flash, multitasking and general use. The CPU and hardware would seem to be rather "weak" when compared to even current smartphones.

I'm not of an Android fan but glad to see some sub $200 tablets with basic functions.
 
Haleron is out of Medellin, Colombia, and so far they don't have an easy way to let you pay for one. I've ordered one, but they haven't figured out a way to get my money from me.
 
Judging the specs it looks like it will be a lackluster user experience:

7-inch 800 x 480 resolution (most likely a TN panel)
VIA 600MHz processor
2GB flash internal drive

$199 is a bargain price to be sure, but its not clear to me how useful it will be, especially with a relatively low res TN panel display.
 
Can anyone figure out the external dimensions? I'd love to know how thick it is.

As for memory, it appears to have a memory slot. Same as my Android Phone. Shouldn't be too hard to stick a 16gb or 32gb card in there for all the memory an Android OS device needs.
 
Interesting device. It has an SD slot and USB ports, which can be handy. I'm not completely impressed though with the 600 MHz VIA CPU.

The interesting part is if anyone buys this and what they can actually do with it.

The SD slot and USB ports will make the "checklist" buyers happy. Just as those who purchased netbooks, having 3 usb over 2 makes a netbook "better". The CPU and no mention of any type of GPU will make things like flash and multitasking a joke. This looks to end up worse than any current netbook, but the checklist buyer will think it's a deal and buy it.
 
Cheap is good, but we have been made Apple junkies.

It's not as desirable as the iPad, but hey, $300 less than the basic iPad? That's an interesting proposition. With an SD and 3G upgrade, it can be a nice little thing to take everywhere. (Or just leave it in the lavatory and flush it?)

Apple left the speculations go mad and the release far too late. Hopefully, more useful tablets will come out soon.

I was sure that if they can make netbooks for $300, they can do basic tablets for less. But what I really want to see is something like the Always Innovating Touch Book, but slimmer and slightly cheaper. A good processor is a must.

The problem is that with my iPhone apps, trying something new will be difficult.

Interesting tablet, worth a consideration considering it's price point.
 
This is the year of the Tablet, so expect many variations to show up on the market. It will take a while to separate the chaff from the wheat.

Bottom line. You get what you pay for.

Good point. There seems to be a lot of this going around. There were two windows tablets recently mentioned here, neither were from a company that previously showed a product. Both were using the same render.

But no sign either of these companies is anything more than a kid creating a web page in his basement.

I have no interest in any no name tablet, from a company with zero product history and I tend to only buy local, so I am someone insulated from scams.

I just thought it was kind of intersting.

I agree. For me, the overall experience of being able to integrate any new device into my ecosystem of MBPs, iTunes, and MobileMe counts pretty high. I would not considering buying this device.
 
As I stated before, I've ordered one. However so far the site doesn't have any payment info from me. They sent me an email today stating my order was updated to "Unit Reserved". If I actually end up with one I'll be happy to share if it's any good.
 
128 mb ram :/ but this does look very inticing. I would likr to try on out

So you have not paid them anything or provided bank information? I would not give them anything but a CC with a low limit, not a Debit card and do not give checking information or use western union. If you wite the money it s gone, no way for a refund for any reason.

The more I look at the site, the more I think it is a scam. The downloads have never been downloaded, the forums are all spam filled etc.

I've got to agree with you; their site gives me very little confidence in the product. The only video I could find on the site was the Sports Illustrated tablet demo and they didn't give any indication that it wasn't anything to do with them. Until I see a video of a someone using an actual device there is no way I'd think of giving them any money.

I'm also sort of disappointed that the news blog just regurgitated the specs on the web page. Is it idealistic to think that they should be checking into the company before they post?
