I have just purchased Super Monkey Ball for iPhone and have one main question:
Does your Monkey Ball go crazy even if you don't touch the iPhone at all ??
Mine is like being drunk on a ship in a storm.
Is it supposed to be like this?
Or is there something wrong?

I thought (hoped) it would initially keep still
and let me use my skill to navigate the game.
but I am battling against constant pitching and rolling.

thanks

PS: can anyone recommend a game that uses the movement / tilt feature that is a bit simpler - less frustrating?

yeah, I agree - the axes aren't really defined at all it seems. It's still playable though and it's pretty fun. Then I bought Enigmo - by far the best mobile game EVER!

There are two main problems with iPhone Super Monkeyball. The one you ran into is there is no way to set what angle is considered "level". What the game considers level is *NOT* flat nor the angle the system is at when starting up; it's tilted towards you a bit. Thus you *have* to touch the iPhone. The other problem is there is no dead zone - they didn't set up a certain amount of tilting needed before the world starts to tilt. So it's hard to even find what is level, and almost impossible to hold it there.

For those who never played a Super Monkeyball game before, no that's not how it's supposed to be. The Wii version is MUCH easier to control, even though it's the same idea tilting a controller to tilt the world.

My biggest problem is the way the camera turns to follow your direction of movement. If try to back up a little bit, the camera turns 180 degrees and then you have to tilt the iPhone to compensate.

I found the game to be an exercise in frustration. I played it for a few minutes and then just gave up and haven't tried it since.

yea, crash bandicoot nitro kart 3d (or CBNK3D for short) and Labyrinth, which has a free and paid versions. CBNK3D has a accelerometer setting that allows you to control the sensitivity of it. Try it, it's the first game I bought and it's alot better than SMB, which I also bought and never used since.
