Super Sloowww iMac problem

Hey guys, Ive had my iMac 24" for over a year now ... and this week for no reasons when I boot up .. it takes soooo long to get to the desktop (like close to 5 mins) and when I finally get there .. I get the beachball that starts spining and spining for and toher 5 mins ... then when I hover over the apps in the dock ... it takes forever to get the text over the app.... just starting and app takes ages too .. even starting the finder !!!

So I had enough ... and decided to do a clean install of OS 10.5.
After erasing and installing OS 10.5, everything was back to normal ...
untill I shotdown the iMac for the night ... then when I came back this morning... Boom ... its all happening again ... super slowww

Ram problem ?
HDD problem ???

Any of you guys ever had this ?

Hey I'm not sure but I'm having the same sort of problem.

My Imac is also very slow at doing anything / applications take ages to open and then they often crash esp anything to do with the internet like Safari.

I'm hoping a new OS install will solve everything but maybe not after reading your message.

One thing I notice if that I leave it on all night downloading the next morning the computer is hardly usable until after a restart.

wow guess Im not the only one having this problem,
Im now trying to booting from the install disk to permissions and do a Disk repair ... and guess what ... its taking ages ... Its been half an hour .. and Ive yet to see anything thats happening with fixing permissions ...
Im getting down ... I guess it must be hardware related ...???

Well I stopped repair permissions ... and did a repair disk
It found at least 30 node errors ... 20 volume errors and more
It took 2 tries from repair disk to finally repair it.

I then booted and I seem to be back to normal (lets see if tomorow will be the same)
