I bought an imac as I was sick of the PC crashing. So I got the i 27.

I have been editing videos, converting them so they will play on my itunes to MP4 format instead of AVI. The macs been on now for 5 days, with the screen off I may add, and it has not had a single error once. Had this been the PC It would have crashed by now but the Mac Just Works. Best thing I ever bought. Pity I didn;t buy one years ago and save myself a lot of trouble. Been converting via Handbrake btw

check your screen for defects.

make sure you use smcFancControl when rendering or gaming.

I am happy for you

Thanks

No, you have not bought a bad machine. But it has its weaknesses.

smcFanControl (google) is a program that makes Fans in the iMac (alos other macs like MacBook) run FASTER. But if you don't play games, don't worry.

When fans run faster, mac stays cooler, which prevents damage to the iMac screen and other internal parts.

Get Apple Care before the 1st year of warranty is expired. Very important!

EDIT:

Display check here http://imac.squeaked.com/test.php

There was a good thread on macrumors I cant find it. But it is the same in the link I gave.

imac

yo guys i just got my self first Imac 27 i7 12 gb so far so good only problem is jelow tint in the corners that i have noticed only when i was running that test. And 2 spots of dust under screen that i can only see when imac is off ican live with that 2. My imac is 17th week i am happy with it so far. I just don't know if i should take a chance and return it for latest week, i am afraid i might be worse. I am thinking of i should get my money back and buy mac pro but no screen.

I just got my self Final cut and cinema 4d installed i will be doing some heavy rendering on this one you think i need that program for fan speed?

Here is the link to my jellow tint tell me if you can see it.
