Im in quite a predicament right now between my wants and needs, and mac vs windowz. i have about $300 to spend as it is right now, so i can do some pretty sweet things to my imac. after heading over to tigerdirect with my budget, i found that i could get a 250gb harddrive, and both kinds of ram in 1gb to install in my g4 1Ghz 17in imac, which makes 2Gb total. But after i checked out the deals on the site, i made my own setup that had a Pentium D 2.8 ghz, 160gb hd, 1gb ram, 512mb vcard, and, heres the kicker, a 26 LCD tv that has a pc input. all of that for around $900. if i get around $800 for my imac with all the software (still gunna have to keep the disks), thats $ 200 still in my pocket. HELP!!! thats about it. thanks!:p

I think it's a bit optimistic that you could get $800 for your iMac.

However, take that with a grain of salt. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't buy it at that price if I were in the market for one because it's not MUCH more for a new computer.

My other thought would be is that just because you have three hundred dollars doesn't mean you have to give it away. ;)

yeah i was being a bit optimistic... i check on ebay and a few were going for around 750. so even if i get 700, or 650, id still be okay.
EDIT!: theres a 1.25 ghz imac- same as mine cept for the .25 ghz increase- for 800 at the time of this posting. I figure if i wipe the hd but reinstall all the software, it could go for about the same. maybe throw in a 1 gb module to make the ram offset the processor? that = 1.5 GB ram

1.25GHz sounds better than 1GHz. Its 25% faster than your chip, so i don't think you will get 800 for it. That said, a 250GB fresh HDD and 2GB RAM is attractive.
Good luck with your sale

Why don't you try a mac mini core solo, 1 gig of ram, and an external firewire 250 gb hard drive plus a 19 inch widescreen monitor from gateway. If you know how to buy, you can pick that setup for about $800-900. I just don't think a Pentium D sounds very appetizing. Plust you'd be saying good bye to the mac os which is a no-no
