I just got my MBP today and when I insert my CD but it doesn't read....
and eject automatically.

I just try to insert the DVD and it works fine!

How come it doesn't read the music CD?

What should I do??

Whenever i have problems with a CD (very rare) but i take it out and lick the disc then wipe it on my top. Then works perfectly, all my friends who have seen me do this think i am weird but when the problem happen with their computer i suggested this method and that is all they use now.

I understand the wiping part but I can't imagine the licking does anything beneficial apart from letting you get intimate with some hardware. Ooohh yeeaah.

If licking it  doesnt work, then use a glasses (the ones u use to see) cleaning cloth. They work a treat. Even better if you have the funky spray to, i use it all the time. But havnt encountered any problems on my MBP yet, only my PC, which is now in a cupboard gathering dust.

I thought I was the only one who did this! You're right, it works for both DVDs AND CDs. Even the most scratched up DVD will play with SUPERSPIT! It may look stupid, but it works.

When I insert the CD, there will be a loud spinning sound, is that normal?
After the sound, it works fine too.

I was going to import one of my CD yesterday. The weird thing is the drive read for a while and eject the CD itself..wierd ><

Mine makes quite a bit of noise too (the iBook more than the iMac). If a CD immediately ejects itself, it might be scratched or dirty. :)

The new Stone Sour CD won't be scratched or dirty when I just take it out of the case :p
