Superdrive burning problem.

Hi,
I've been having problems burning DVD's on the Superdrive on my Macbook C2D 2Ghz
I tried burning with Victor JVC DVD-R's and this worked about 20 times in Toast and Finder but now i get the error code...

"Burning Disk Failed because communication to the disc drive failed. (Error code 0x80020022)"

Toast error code is something like
Sense key=HARDWARE ERROR
0x03
(but i cant remember exactly)

I have tried repairing permissions, burning at a lower speed and i burnt the same type of disc on my girlfriends Macbook (same specs) which worked fine.

is the end of my very new Superdrive? is it time to take it back to the shop for repair? any help on this matter would be appreciated.

Can you record normal cd's? And can you read cd's and dvd's?

sorry i should have said.

yep i can read dvds and burn cd's also i just checked and the dvd i burned on my girlfriends computer and it turns out that it didn't work either. so today i went out and got some memorex dvd's.... they don't work

(same error in finder and toast.)

have you any other brands of dvd's there? give them a try and see what happens. Also what kind of dvd's are you trying to burn?

I'm getting a similar problem to you

All was fine burning my unbranded DVD+R single layers on my superdrive
(however I couldn't burn traxdata dual layers at all)

Then my dvd drive swallowed a disc and I had to take it into the Apple store for repair.

Since then, I get the same error as you do when I try the single layer unbranded DVD+R

HOWEVER, I can burn no problems using Traxdata single layers.
and for some reason, I can now burn dual layer traxdata discs.

If it wan't for the fact that I can burn some media with no problems, I would take it into the Apple store for a replacement drive... but I have always been made aware that different drives tend to have different levels of results with different media!!!

Incidentally, wasn't there supposed to be some OS-X update recently that refers to drive burning issues?

i only got my Macbook a few months ago so its still under warranty.
i live in japan and going to the apple store is a bit of a problem (my Japanese isn't that great)
i might try a different kind of DVD tomorrow, along with a dvd cleaner.

i tried a hardware test with no problems and i also cleared the system/kernel cache

I've tried burning data and video DVD's, is this what you mean?

...oh yes, the error seems to change from 0x80020022 to 0x08002006E
both of which turn up after a google search but i seem to be going in circles with google.

Got a few DVD's to burn sometimes getting an error 0x80020063

not really sure what this is...

anyway i was wondering about burning 8x dvd's in a 6x dvd player, is this ok? i have a few 8x dvd's but they only burn at 4x speed. will it do badness to my superdrive to continue burning with 8x dvd's?
