SuperDrive compatibility with macOS 26

Yes, it works. However, when playing The Simpsons' third season DVDs in 4:3 aspect ratio on a Mac, the video appears aligned to the left instead of centered on the screen, which looks quite odd.

My suggestions:
a. Just upgrade and try the SuperDrive. Then you tell us... if it works.

b. If it DOESN'T work... time to look for a 3rd party external USB optical drive. DVD/CD drives are quite cheap (probably can find one for $25). If you'd like BD/DVD/CD with M-DISC writability, will cost a little more.

The SuperDrive is unique in that Apple has an interlock on providing sufficient power. It will only work, if plugged in directly.

I have switched to two of these on my two Desktops:
archgon Premium Aluminum External USB 3.0 UHD 4K Blu-Ray Writer Super Drive for PC and Mac

They work well on USB-C, support 4K BluRay, and can act as "LibreDrive" with MakeMKV.
Both work over hubs and do not require a direct connection.

The simple style complements my Mac Studio and mini Pro.

Perhaps I wasn't making myself clear ... does anyone who has currently upgraded to either the developers or public beta for iPadOS 26 AND has an Apple SuperDrive see any problems accessing files from either DVD or CD? I prefer not up update my MacBook Pro if this seems to be a problem. Thanks.

Even if there are issues with the SuperDrive, you can get a CD/DVD/BluRay drive that would be compatible for $50-70. That drive will also have a longer support window, as the SuperDrive was discontinued last year.
