So I was just getting ready to burn a iDVD project on a DVD+RW disc - using toast - BUT the computer kept ejecting the disc, saying it's not writable!

I am new to mac - this was gonna be my very first iDVD project
Any idea what could be wrong??? Help appreciated?

(at first i thought that maybe the superdrive doesnt support rewritable DVDs - but I checked, and it does...)

I think that there is a difference between DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs? I know that older superdrives and Apple in general supported the -R standard. From what I recall the only DVD RWs supported by the superdrive are DVD-RW. From you post it is not clear which you are trying to use.

What drive do you have? Is +RW listed when you type "drutil info" into Terminal?

For example:

Code:
 Vendor Product Rev
 HL-DT-ST DVDRW GWA4080MA AE38

   Interconnect: ATAPI
   SupportLevel: Apple Shipping
          Cache: 2048k
CD-Write: -R, -RW, BUFE, CDText, Test, IndexPts, ISRC
      DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +R DL, [b]+RW[/b], BUFE, Test
     Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO

Problem solved - but I cant tell you what the problem was. I tried erasing the disc (+RW) several times with no luck. Then tried to erase it from my pc - which did initially erase the disc, but it still wouldnt work in osx. Then I tried erasing again in osx - and taa-daa - it worked .........

So, the procedure would be; ERASE, ERASE, ERASE, take disc to your PC and ERASE again, then back to mac and ERASE - then WRITE ...peace of cake:D
