had trouble with my iMac so i reset a few things, PRAM, SMC etc. and erased my HDD and reinstalled Snow Leopard

but since then, i've put a blank DVD in my superdrive and my iMac won't recognise it.

i thought it best to try disk utility to try and eject the blank disc but to no avail as my disk utility shows the attached following information

any ideas

Go to System Preferences > CDs & DVDs and make sure the top two options are set to "Ask what to do"

To force a DVD or CD to eject, restart while holding the left mouse button.

Nothing....

Still nothing, got my DVD out and still not recognising any cd's dvd's etc....

had similar problem on my iMac core duo with combo drive , older dvd's i created when i was using windows will not play on it in OSX SL no matter what i tried even reinstalling SL ,but they play under osx tiger in the same iMac combo drive and they play in a external usb dvd rw drive just fine using SL
and they play in the combo drive if i use the linux partition , so i copied them using linux and not tinkering settings just plain copy and the copies work in OSX SL
