Just bought myself an iMac 27".

How durable is that slot superdrive? I rip average 50 disc a week. so i need to be sure that i don't break this thing quickly.

Would you recommend external optical drive? (nice looking, goes with iMac)

Also, I use CF card for my photography. Any good media reader that goes with iMac?

(ideally an optical drive with media slot...)

They are pretty reliable, I've owned an iMac for 3 years and while I don't get near the use of my Superdrive that you do mine has held up fine. However that being said I would recommend getting AppleCare on the machine. This extends the warranty to 3 years and includes 3 years of phone support. One repair of a SuperDrive (or any other component) would more than pay for itself. You can buy AppleCare from Apple for $169 or from a variety of reliable Apple Resellers for considerably less, for example Amazon is advertising it for $131. The only rule is it must be purchased before the 1 year warranty has expired, 366 days and you will miss out!
