Superdrive problems??

I have a black macbook and i recently bought a few cds (2 Metric CDs and a nada surf cd) and so naturally the first thing I did was put them in my computer to rip/listen to them as I don't have a CD player other than this (it's college where multi-function rules supreme). Well, the Metric cds worked just fine and I'm listening to the ripped tracks right now, but when I put in the nada surf cd, i get this horrible lower pitched sound and some grinding it sounds like and then the thing spits the CD back out, it looks undamaged, doesn't have any scratches, but it doesn't sound like it's mounting or anything. I put back other CDS in to make sure the drive worked fine and it does, so what's the deal??

Probably a problem with the disc. I've found that some manufacturers, even for music CDs, will make faulty discs that are either unbalanced or too thick. Try it in another computer if you can.

Or it could be DRM'd in some manner so that it won't work on your MacBook. Are you in OS X or do you run Windows on it?

i only run it in osx, i'll see if i can try it on my roommates computer and see what happens. If it is defective, would the store i got it from take it back, even though it's opened?

Right, tried it on his tray-loading dell, it played, but made the same horrible sounds and wouldn't rip...
