Hi,

A few days ago, my internal Matshita DVD-R UJ-875 died while ripping some audio CDs in XLD!
It doesn't read any CDs or DVDs anymore. It starts to spin the disc and ejects it after a couple of seconds!

Since I believe that there is no fix for the problem, and my warranty has already expired, I'm looking to replace the drive myself.
I do have the necessary technical know-how, however I'm not sure if I should buy the same drive again, or get a newer, better (for secure audio ripping), more durable one...?

Any suggestions???
I'm not looking for Blur-ray support, just an internal DVD drive for my Intel Imac with DL support (and maybe Lightscribe).

Furthermore, are there any good European online retailers for hardware/spare-parts like these?

Thanks!

at first I should suggest you visit an Apple retailer.
I tried to fix things on my own too, but i managed to make it even worse..
Apple won't be able to help you further when you try yourself.

Anyway if you have the know-how, (which i didn't :p) i suggest you check on websites that sell second hand Apples. I'll try if i can manage to find something for ya.
