Damn... never knew the MBP's would do that! I don't have this problem, however I can relate (sort of).
At work we had an imac (24" 3.06) on display for sale. A customer wanted to see it play some music off a cd for some reason so obviously why not? So we insert the cd. It plays well, but when we try to eject it makes this loud revving sound and it launches out hitting the wall. Was quite halarious for us... but that only lasted a few seconds before the customer got pissed that his cd was absolutely mangled.
We got the superdrive replaced. I suggest taking it in to get checked out.
It is not inconceivable that this could happen. I would definitely take it in before it tears up something that you would be spending a good deal of money to replace.
