But, It will read, and burn to cd.

Im not sure the last time it was working, maybe about one month ago. And now it doesnt like any DVD media at all.

For example, Ill insert a dvd film, it will make some noises like its trying to read it, then it stops, and spits it out. I tried to burn some files to DVD to test it, and after about 30 secs it ejected the blank DVD.

Any ideas? I just find it strange that cd media works, but not DVD. Ill purchase a cd/dvd cleaner on my way home from work tomorrow.

Please dont say I'll have to send it to apple for repair, im already without my xbox due to that dying on me.

:(

My understanding is that there are two separate lasers inside a DVD/CD player/burner one that does CDs and one that does DVDs.

Under that assumption, it would seem that your DVD laser has shorted out. You'll probably have to send it in for repairs.

Cheers stoid,

Do you think that it would be likely that the CD lazer would be on its way out next. Obviously I am going to get it repaired as its still under warranty, but I cant be totally without technology.
