I got it through Software Update on my MacBook Air but my iMac says 'up to date'. Are they rolling this out in waves?

What version are you on? If you're on the GM build of Catalina you may need to get it through the App Store.

I upgraded to Catalina through Software Update
If you upgraded yesterday, you probably got the update already. Look at "about this Mac" and click on the "Version 10.15" text. That text should change to something like "Version 10.15 (19A602)." What do you see in the parentheses?

I upgraded the day it was released through the App Store (as I now remember, not via Software Update). About this Mac shows 19A583

If you go to the Software Updates Preference Pane, hold down command+r to get it to refresh the list of updates.

I tried that and still says up to date but in the App Store, the button for Catalina says ‘Get’
