Support for the new Nikon Z fc on MacOS 12

Can someone please check if the new Nikon Z fc's raw files is supported in MacOS 12?

Hm, just opened a .NEF from a Nikon Z fc without problems on my iPP/iPadOS 15.2 in RAW Power (which uses the system RAW support). And Apple themselves list Nikon Z 6 and 7 support - there seems to be no difference in the NEF-specs in relations to files from the Nikon Z fc. What is not working under MacOS 12 when you try to open a .NEF file?

I does not open natively in MacOS 12.1 using Finder nor Affinity Photo. I does open using Nikon's NX Studio, Photo Mechanic 6 and Apollo One. So I've been using Photo Mechanic to sort my photos, then off to Affinity Photo to process them. Just find it weird that MacOS 12.1 natively doesn't show, but other apps do.
Maybe it's an Intel vs M1 chip thing, I don't know.

just checked with the NEF from my previous reply - works with QuickView in the Finder, Apple Photos… Intel Macbook/BigSur; M1 Air/Monterey.

What I see when I import a Nikon Z fc RAW pic over to Apple's Photo app. hmmm, I don't know. Noticed that the Nikon Z fc is NOT listed in the Apple support doc.

strangest thing… I went back to the image and the preview in the finder was gone and I got an error message that “unsupported file format. lossy-compressed RAWs are not supported” in RAW Power.
Can you set “lossless compressed RAW” (or “uncompressed”?) like on a Z7 on the Zfc?

side note: Is the EXIF information in your screenshot correctly read by MacOS?

For the Nikon Z fc, for RAW only 12bit vs 14bit is an option.
Also no mention of compressed/uncompressed/lossy compressed for the Z fc on Nikon's site:
