Well, it seems perfectly clear to me. You have a negative message waiting. You know, like you were turned down for the job for which you applied.
I've seen the same on my mac too.
Apart from that, messages are sometimes appearing out of order. Both my iPhone and the mac is connected to the same WiFi network. But I get some messages on one of my devices and the other one gets updated hours later..
