Little update on my surface pro 2.
Well last week I noticed my Surface Pro 2 had suddenly got a few small hairline scratches. I quickly stuck a screen protector on and noticed that my screen protector was also getting scratched.
Turns out it was the surface pen. I rang Microsoft Surface support and they were very helpful and sent me out a replacement pen and told me they would ring me when I have received it to see if it sorted the issue.
So new pen arrives by courier and I put a new fresh screen protector on my device so that I could test it fresh and would instantly notice new scratches. I spent a couple of hours drawing with the new pen and gladly there were no new scratches. Clearly the nib on the original whilst looking ok to the naked eye, had some micro abrasion of some description that caused the hairline scratches.
Microsoft support duly rang me to follow up on the pen and I was happy to tell them that the new pen was grand and wasn't causing scratches and I was happy.
To my surprise, they then said to me they would replace my surface pro 2 unit as clearly the scratches were not my fault - if I wished them to do so. I told them they (the scratches) were not too bad and I could live with them as they were only hairline, but they said that was by the by and would replace it without issue.
Taking them up on the offer, my surface pro 2 is going back on Monday by UPS.
Genuinely impressed by the level of customer service by Microsoft and how polite, helpful they were. It is also good to have regional support and not just some call centre in the east...
