Since I am in the planning stages of a new setup I was think of getting a surge protector that I use in my HT for the desk. I do have multiple regular surge protectors though but I was wanting something different than having it on the floor. Is this overkill for a computer setup with printer, laptop and monitor and some other things.

It is a

I think it’s a small price to pay if it gives you peace of mind that your components are protected. I’m a big fan of surge protectors. I have the Tripp Lite protectors all of the house. The one you‘re looking at looks pretty fancy. I’d say go for it!

My concern with that unit is how close the outlets are together. Any sort of power brick or wall charger will probably block access to another outlet.

For my computer equipment, I go with a UPS. Of course, if you don't want something on the floor that would be a problem.

Does the Studio Display have a bick like MBP? I think I could be fine with it but I could certainly use in my Audio setup if doesn't work. I don't have any bricks other than the MB air and so far going on the new setup desk that's the only brick so I should be fine.
