Surprised... No TV Guide Apps

Is anyone else surprised there are no TV guide listings on the App Store for the US? There's one thats Swedish and another from New Zealand, but those obviously wouldn't help (why are they on the US Store anyway?).

Has anyone heard of an upcoming TV listings app, preferably with reminders? I wouldn't mind paying for a good app like that.

AOL has a web app that is great. AOL TV listings. You can find it on Apples web apps pages. Works really good.

Would really like to see a TitanTV app. That would be useful to me. I don't care much for network TV, but I love my Discovery, History, and National Geographic!

I'd say it's most likely that anyone owning an iPhone has either digital cable or satellite where you have a guide on screen.

However, someone is bound to come up with one eventually.

Actually, it's some of the very techno crowd (such as myself) that would be interested. TitanTV and other guides can interact with PC-turn-DVR stations with ATSC & QAM tuners, etc. If someone tells me about some NASA show coming up on the Discovery Channel, a mobile TitanTV app would let me set it to record right then & there. Many are also using MythTV, Snapstream, and others.

True. You can even do that with DirecTV. You can simply go to their website and choose which device to record it to (if you have more than one).

Don't hold your breath. They never created a mobile version of their scheduler web site and never came through with a fully functional version of Tivo2Go for Mac. And the online scheduling site they do have is not so great.

That way I could schedule recording on my Mac mini media computer.

Being able to check what's on while at home, and seeing if anything good is on today while on the go is totally different.

Is there a web app that allows you to choose which channels you like? There's probably only 10 I ever watch, scanning through 150 to find those 10 would kill any benefit.

It doesn't seem to render so well on my iPhone - but it's not bad. Cheers.


I sometimes use tvtv.co.uk to schedule recordings via the web for EyeTV on the mac mini. It does have a mobile site, but it doesn't seem to be working.

That's the New Zealand TV Guide, which was updated recently... Possibly explaining why it was in Recently Added.

Actually I looked through the comments for that and saw that the NZ TV guide developer is working on a US edition.

+1... and the money i saved from ditching cable last year is about to buy a 32Gb refurb iPod touch, i love that size screen to watch movies I've already seen but like enough to see again.

The reason an app for this is nice is many people have a 2nd or 3rd tv that does not use the Digi Cable Company box and instead using the Digital QAM tuner to receive digital and analog channels offered. There is no GUIDE button for this situation. You must turn to TV guide channel and wait... wait... pass out and wake up on the couch at 3am!

Im just using safari to access Titan TV. They finally added Verizon FiOS. I wish Titan would offer a selection for Comcast or Verizon FiOS QAM channels. Since most QAM channels dont map to the same numbers as the cable box.
