I am running XP in bootcamp. For some reason I can't get my 5.1 speakers to properly work. Sounds only seems to be coming from the front 3 speakers. Is there a fix for this?
I did change it their to 5.1. However, it still does not work. The realtek I think it is icon when you click the settings for that, it only offers headphones or 2.1, so I think that's where the problem lies. Is there really no one else who has surround sound in boot camp? The main reason I have it is to game, which I would really like the 5.1 for.
Works fine in OS x, thinking it's just a needed boot camp update. I've also been looking into an external soundcard to use in xp for gaming, but not much luck. I have a PCMAI Audigy 2, but now with this expresscard...
I have tried to fix this for about 3 hours now. I posted a thread at the apple discussions as well as shot an email to realtek. I will let you know what I find, but my hunch is that it is a boot camp/driver issue. I tried to play a DVD in VLC and my receiver showed it was receiving multichannel audio through the optical connection, but it came out very choppy. Needless to say it sucks that it works flawlessly in osx but not it windows. I even tried the newest realtek drivers and it didn't work.
