macOS svn error - Unknown hostname ''

I'm having problems getting started with using Subversion. I have it installed (version 1.4.4) and it works perfectly from the command line. I created a repository in a subdirectory of my Documents folder, and imported a dummy directory.

The thing is, I want to use a GUI. I've tried both svnX and RapidSVN, and for both of them, whenever I try to do anything (list a repository, checkout, etc.), I got an error along the lines of:
Error: Error while updating filelist (Unknown hostname '')

What's wrong?

Are you getting another error message below that one? Did you try googling the error message?

No other errors are displayed, and none of the Google posts seem to help - they all seem to be about accessing remote repositories, not one on the current computer. I do want to note that the quotes in the error message I posted are actually in the real error and weren't added by me.
