Hi, I have an iMac 27" Mid 2010 running High Sierra from a 2.97Ghz intel core i7 cpu 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD with all my files and programs on. I am considering buying a used MacPro 5.1 also Mid 2010 also running High Sierra from 2x 2.66Ghz Intel Xeon cpu's, 64GB RAM. Rather than clone the drive from my iMac to the Mac Pro, would the MacPro boot up and function normally if I remove the hard drive from the mac Pro and then put the hard drive (with all my files and programs on) from the iMac into the MacPro? (I am not sure if the computer specific CPU is 'connected' to the functional operation of the OS when it is first installed). TIA Matt

If your iMac was the 21" 2009 model with the NVIDIA chipset, you would have compatibility issues since these prepare the disk in a different way, but since it's the 27" 2010, you will probably boot just fine.
