Hi Everyone,

Maybe this is a dumb question but with Macs (even newer than early Intel only) what are the options available to upgrade internal wifi by simply swapping in a wifi card from a newer mac into an older machine? I come across a LOT of Macs where I work that are heading to the "great recycle bin in the sky" and I sometimes have the option to crack one open to grab a wifi card out of one before they head out. These range across everything from old PPC up to newish Intel machines. Isn't it possible to grab a newer wifi card out of one of these machines and upgrade an older wifi card to a new standard? If so, is there any kind of chart or reference anywhere that outlines which cards can be moved from one machine to another? Do they even fit the slot in different machines? For example, I have a Mac Pro 3,1 with an older wifi card installed in it, can I grab a wifi card out of, say, a newer iMac and put it in the MacPro to get faster Wifi? I have no idea how to even check something like this.

Thanks for any advice!

:)
