Ok... actually, I have two questions. My first involves SIM cards. I have two phones and two numbers, one for business and one for personal. I am going to put the iPhone on my personal phone contract, extending it for an additional 2 years. So my question is, can I swap the SIM cards and put the SIM card from my business phone in my iPhone even if the iPhone contract isn't for that number? I know I won't be able to use the internet service, but will I be able to make calls, texts, visual voicemail, and the iPod?

My next question. I use my AOL account to pay for songs, so I don't have an Apple ID. So do I use my AOL account and password for my iTunes account, or do I make an Apple ID? And if I make an Apple ID, can I put the songs I got using my AOL account on my iPhone?

Thanks

1. SIM card swap: I think unknown at this point. I would guess it won't work because Apple says you need one of the iPlans for the phone to work.

2. If you can get the AOL songs into iTunes, they will sync. Provided they are in the proper format. Pretty much the same way as an iPod does. I would guess you are not going to be able to use the AOL songs.

Thanks, but they aren't AOL songs, they are songs from iTunes purchased though my AOL bill.

as far as i know and from what a couple of guys named walt and david told me, there is no sim card in the iphone.

If you can change the SIM card you can change the battery... the only thing Apple makes that I can change the battery in is my 17" Macbook Pro.

All the info I have learned this week is really turning me off the iPhone. It is a great phone distroyed by a greedy company wanting to maximize profits, what a shame. I am still going to get it, but I say there is a 50/50 chance I will end up returning it.

And all my contacts on my SIM card are going to have to be manually put in the iPhone? The SIM card was a step forward, looks like Apple just took a step backward.

They didn't actually say this, I believe. My understanding is that it's SIM-locked, so it won't accept other companies' SIM cards. Why does distinction matter? Because if the SIM is removable, even if it is locked, you could temporarily switch to a different phone if your iPhone had issues.

Just bumping this thread to see if anyone can answer if you can swap sim cards in the iPhone 3G? (specifically on Rogers)... I'm not eligible for a hardware upgrade yet but my mom is... would I be able to upgrade her phone to an iPhone and then swap her sim for mine?
