swelling battery

my battery is starting to swell, does anyone know of anything like this happening?


also, when i get down to about an hour of charge left, it just shuts down.

i'd call applecare, but i don't have phone support anymore (I'm going to buy it, but saving up for it right now). how else can i get a new battery out to me?

its getting annoying. i heard there was a silent recall on the batteries, but never got a new one.

Is there an Apple Store near where you live? If so, you can bring it into a store.

Hi. Apple usually doesn't try and contact people about the recall, it is your job to take it in for service if it is required. If there was a recall, it would be on Apple's Site somewhere. Also, if it is swelling than that may be considered defective, take it into an Apple Store and show them the problem. That or you could call Apple. Your not going to be trouble-shooting so it won't count towards your Phone Support. Hope this helps.

Ok. Like I said, try calling them. They will be able to tell you if it is in need of replacement. I will try and look for info on a recall if it exists. You have a MBP right? When did you buy it?

Cant you go to apple.com and do the same thing as on the phone? that's what i did to get a replacement iPod a few years ago.

Where exactly can you do this? I imagine somewhere at support.apple.com? Never heard of this. If you're talking about the Support Live Chat it is only available for iMac, Shuffle owners.

Yes somewhere on apple's support site, i just looked there, and i cant seem to find it, i remember it being hard to find.... hm..... well maybe theyve changed? i dont know this is really weird.

This happenede to me as well, it's a bad battery.
Just call AppleCare, don't worry about the three months free support, that's only if it can be fixed by phone. It's defective, it's under the 1 year warranty. Call them, tell them that the battery is swelling, and they'll mail you a new one and a box to send back the defective one. Don't worry, they wont charge you.
